Description
These Puff Pastry Cinnamon rolls are made with flaky puff pastry and a rich cinnamon-sugar filling. These rolls are perfect for breakfast, brunch, or an afternoon snack on game day.
Ingredients
- 1 sheet puff pastry
- 2 tbsp dairy-free butter ( 1 before spreading the cinnamon sugar mix and 1 before baking )
- 1 tbsp cinnamon
- 4 tbsp brown sugar
- 1 tsp vanilla sugar
- 1/2 cup powdered sugar ( for glaze )
- 2 tsp oat milk ( for glaze )
Instructions
-
Step 1: Prep the Oven & Puff Pastry
Preheat your oven to 200°C (400°F). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper. If using frozen puff pastry, let it thaw according to package instructions.
-
Step 2: Make the Cinnamon Filling
Mix the brown sugar, cinnamon, and vanilla sugar in a small bowl until well combined. Then, melt the butter in a microwave for only a few seconds.
-
Step 3: Assemble the Rolls
Roll out the puff pastry on a lightly floured surface. Evenly brush the melted butter on the pastry, then spread the cinnamon-sugar mixture over the entire sheet, leaving a small border around the edges.
-
Step 4: Roll & Slice
Carefully roll the puff pastry into a tight log. Slice it into 1-inch-thick pieces and place them on the prepared baking sheet, spacing them slightly apart.
-
Step 5: Bake to Perfection
Brush the rolls' tops with some extra melted vegan butter before baking for a richer flavour. Then bake for 20-25 minutes or until golden brown and puffy.
-
Step 6: Drizzle with Glaze
While the rolls are baking, prepare the glaze by whisking powdered sugar with plant-based milk until smooth. If you want it thicker, add more powdered sugar, if it is too thick, add a teaspoon of oat milk to the mix. Once baked, pour the glaze over the cinnamon rolls, and enjoy!
I like mine with cold oat milk or dipped in it 🙂 Just like I ate pastries when I was a kid.
Try it, and let me know what you think!
Notes
Please remember that these cinnamon rolls will be crispy and flaky because of the puff pastry.
They are best enjoyed fresh from the oven.
If the rolls are too hot, the glaze will melt and won't stay on them.
