How to make BBQ Tofu
- Firstly, press the tofu. Place the block of tofu on a plate lined with paper towels. Put another layer of paper towels on top of the tofu, followed by a heavy object like a cast-iron skillet or a few cans. Press the tofu for about 30 minutes to remove excess moisture.
- Cut the tofu: Once pressed, cut the tofu into cubes or slices, depending on your preference.
- Preheat the oven to 400°F (200°C) and line a baking sheet.
- Coat the tofu: In a mixing bowl, toss the tofu cubes with cornstarch, vegetable oil, soya sauce, and garlic powder until evenly coated. Season with salt and pepper to taste.
- Arrange the tofu on the baking sheet.
- Bake the tofu: Bake the tofu in the preheated oven for 25-30 minutes, flipping halfway through, until golden brown and crispy on the outside.
- Coat the tofu with BBQ sauce. Pour the sauce over the tofu and gently toss until it is coated evenly. Bake it for another 5-10 minutes until the BBQ sauce caramelizes and becomes sticky.

WHAT TO SERVE WITH BBQ TOFU:
I love serving it over a bed of fluffy rice or quinoa alongside roasted vegetables for a hearty and nutritious meal. Try serving it with a fresh salad with a tangy vinaigrette for a lighter option.
How to store
You can store any leftovers in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to three days. When you're ready to enjoy them again, simply reheat them in the oven or microwave until warmed through.
Top tip
To achieve the perfect crispy texture when baking tofu, it's crucial to press it beforehand to remove excess moisture. You can use a tofu press, but you can also wrap it in paper towels and place a heavy object on top to press it.
